Marta Figueredo Galimany

Prof. Marta  Figueredo Galimany performed her PhD studies in the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) under the supervision of Prof. Pelayo Camps García, in the field of polyquinane synthesis. In 1983, she joined the group of Prof. Marcial Moreno-Mañas as a postdoctoral fellow, contributing to the development of a research project on photo-affinity labels. Then, she moved to the University of California, Los Angeles, where she worked on the steroselective synthesis of natural products, as a member of Prof. Michael Jung group. In 1984, she went back to the UAB and incorporated to the Stereoselective Organic Synthesis Group, led by Prof. Josep Font. In 1988 she gained a permanent position at the UAB as an Associate Professor and in 2006 was promoted to Full Professor. Her research interests have focused on the stereoselective organic synthesis of biologically active products, using a variety of strategies, including chiral pool materials, chiral auxiliaries, and enantioselective catalysis. Her current research motivation is centered in the development of new molecules, which could be used as therapeutic agents against some broadly extended human pathologies.
